Healing The Work Wound

As someone who is not employed, some of you reading this may argue that I am not qualified to speak on employment in 2026; especially since I have not been employed since 2022! What I will say now is just a quick buffer a brief disclosure for you to decide if you even trust me enough to continue reading:

Being completely transparent I NEVER wanted to or envisioned myself not working! Retirement was so far it wasn't even in peripheral vision, I was a proud employee!

I wore all the company gear and embodied all the missions and gave my best. I was trapped by systemic and internal racism with no way to identify with my experience in real time;

because everyone around me was just as complacent as I was!

If you can relate to any or everything I said I hope you choose to keep reading and hopefully you are able to find something beneficial to you on your journey

Here we go:

There was a time when our current reality seemed so far away and honestly unrealistic and yet  here we are. So dreaming of a reality where you are able to work without sacrifice should not be so unrealistic, right?

I hope you are not tired of talking about the pandemic, because there is no way that we can even begin to discuss our current world overlooking the lasting impacts of COVID-19. I personally feel like the truths that were unearthed due to the pandemic many people have yet face head on. Why? Because it requires extensive and honest individual work.

The truth:

We do not need to work 40 hours a week, not even from a productivity standpoint!

There are so many paths I can take unpacking the devastating impact this truth has had on the entire globe, but for the sake of clarity, I want to focus on what matters right now: our country is in a relentless race to replace us. It’s a reality that touches every industry, every workforce, and every one of us.

Ignoring it doesn’t make it go away — it only ensures we fall further behind.

It really feels like, now in hindsight, that the pandemic itself was a test run of sorts to see how the world would respond to a shutdown, to complete and total control.

I must be honest, I feel like we have reached a point in our existence where it has just become too costly, too much to maintain: financially, mentally, and morally.

While their intent may have been very specific, their plan opened an unknown door that they had no way of preparing for, the great awakening for enlightened people. There is one thing that I will never argue with anyone over. And that is the existence and power of spiritual law.

All energy put out will ALWAYS come back.

That is it.

And that is all.

Ever since 2020, it feels as though the centuries-old evil of slavery has been hiding in plain sight for over 300 years and it has finally been exposed in all its countless, insidious forms. Slavery is polysemous: it wears many faces, but its impact remains undeniable and we are constantly adjusting to seeing it more and more clear everyday!

Polysemous a single word or phrase that has multiple, related meanings. Now what are these hidden identities that slavery has created to keep us asleep and under constant confusion:  Employment (obviously), Education and Criminal Justice to name my top 3.

Our programming begins the moment we enter the world, and NONE of us, had a choice in our original program. We are intentionally wired to “work hard”, “beat the competition”, “fight for the highest dollar”, as soon as we become aware of our consciousness and we never question anything.

Our parents didn't question anything.

Neither did our grandparents.

Or their parents,

and their parents were the first generation to conform to the modern forms of slavery.

They fell in line, taking jobs that would never pay them what their labor was worth. We continue to chase college degrees with mounting debt, to then lose ourselves further in the endless grind of the workforce, and sacrificing decades of our lives all while enriching the wealthiest while settling into generational cycles of poverty, sickness, and numbness to racism.

Why? Simply to survive?

I share this not in judgment, but as a truth too many of us live every day and still ignore.

I myself was caught in all of the programming that I mention (I only speak of things I know), so please allow me to energetically hold space for you!

It was hard having to wake up to the reality that the life we all began dreaming of on career day in kindergarten was all an intentional distraction for us to chase their ideas of success and wealth; so that we are so busy we never truly discover who we are and what we want.

Our true essence was hijacked by colonization and too many people are still just idly watching the reality dissolve and still choosing to be caught in the energy harvesting; That they need to survive might I add!

Our energy is the most crucial resource to capitalism and they know that.

So they forced us to believe they were superior, but all energy put out ALWAYS comes back

We will get back to energy but back to the pandemic…

The 2020 shut down tucked the whole world away into whatever living quarters we had access to and observed, monitored, and controlled. Depression was at an all time high, especially in young people due to the abrupt isolation and confusion. We were forced indoors with very minimal understanding and NO CHOICE in the matter.

It was the first time that our worth, our experiences, our lives were put on center stage, reflecting back now it truly felt like an experiment.

What are we if we are not working?

If we are not in service to anyone?

What is a childhood without 8+ hours of “educational” programming and extracurricular?

It was difficult to see so many people's illusions of life completely shatter. The pandemic forced us to sit with ourselves in a way that we have never done in well over 400 years; because slavery never ended.

I can not continue this blog without holding space for all of the loss we endured collectively.

It is as though we skip right past the grief after 2 years of nothing but disorientation to resume back to the regularly scheduled agenda.

Some of us truly woke up to the reality at that time and our lives have not been the same since.

My husband listens to every one of my wild thoughts, business ideas, emotions, and dreams; but in many ways, he is my complete opposite. Where I tend to live in the clouds, he is firmly rooted. He has a way of reflecting back to me the blind spots I can’t see, keeping my feet firmly on the ground.

As a Master Mechanic, his mind is wired beautifully but absolutely differently from mine. The way he approaches his craft with precision, intention, pride, and deep respect, has given me a new appreciation for the work that is often overlooked. People in the trades, especially those who genuinely love what they do, understand something powerful: their individual role is essential to the larger function of our society. They keep the world running through the kind of maintenance most of us rarely stop to consider.

His perspective on work has challenged my free-spirited core in ways that have stretched me beyond what I ever thought possible. Especially when it comes to the core essence of working.

As much as I want to say it isn't true, the truth is that some roles will always be essential to keeping our modern world functioning. Certain services simply require human hands, care, and presence and I've come to respect that more deeply. As a student of the Universe, I can recognize the lesson in that.

At the same time, I can also honestly say I do not see myself returning to life as an employee.

Still, life has a way of surprising us. Paths can shift and circumstances may change and what feels unlikely today isn’t always impossible tomorrow.

But stranger things have happened, like a felon becoming a president

I digress.

The work wound is: sacrificing your emotional balance becoming burnt out, depleting your cup with very little to no reciprocity.

I could fill entire books of all the sacrifices people are forced to endure in the name of employment.

The quiet sacrifices made to stay employed often go unnoticed like:

– Missing important life moments like birthdays, milestones, time we can’t get back
– Being overworked without recognition or fair compensation
– Logging off on paper, but never truly disconnecting
– Working late nights and weekends just to keep up
– Silencing our needs to meet expectations
– Staying in roles that drain us out of fear of instability
– Trading presence in our personal lives for performance at work
– Accepting burnout as “part of the job”
– Shrinking parts of ourselves to fit professional norms

So, how do you balance and heal the this work wound:

Never sacrificing your emotional balance

You can not ignore your own limits or needs, they matter. Be clear on the things that are non negotiables for you on your journey and where you are at that moment in time. In my personal opinion when it comes to balance as a whole, most people struggle to understand what that looks like in practice.

When I think of balance, I think of alignment. Sometimes that alignment requires bold, life-altering shifts; and other times, it’s found in the smallest, almost invisible adjustments. But if you find yourself constantly unhappy, especially in a space where you are optional, you have to choose yourself.

The actual imbalance has a way of making itself known. Your emotional body is your first line of protection, and it rarely lies. When you continually choose (showing up every day is a choice) to remain in something that causes emotional dysregulation, you’re not just compromising your comfort; you’re sacrificing a vital part of yourself.

No Recognition, No Investment

Disrespect is disrespect. You can dress it as you’d like but a lack of recognition and support is a big red flag for any job or career. Growth is in danger of staying stagnant in spaces that refuse to acknowledge and appreciate your effort and time.

Growth cannot thrive where it is not acknowledged. You may still be working, producing, and even succeeding on the surface, but internally, something begins to stall. True growth requires recognition, support, and space to expand. Without that, you’re not evolving—you’re maintaining, or worse, slowly shrinking to fit a space that was never designed to hold you.

Power Rooted in Humility

You must always self regulate and balance ego with kindness. In people facing services there is a very harmful ideology of separating yourself from your work as a way of emotionally detaching yourself from the work. This creates mental and moral confusion while quietly building resentment. You should always be kind, kindness and humility should be in constant flow, no matter what your career is.

There is no superiority in nature; everything simply is and was created to be. Life programs have created real mirages and scary illusions that make people feel like masters to things they were never meant to. because pretending to be a master of what we cannot control is the fastest path to mental illness.

Always maintain and honor your goals

Where do you want to see yourself growing within your role?

When considering any career, there should be a very clear understanding of what your personal and professional goals are. For example, you may be clear that you want to start a family within 5 years, you would like to be present for your family (in whatever capacity for the individual) so jumping into a career where you will not be able to be as present as you want, even if it pays good in the moment and may seem like a temporary sacrifice, you risk becoming comfortable.

Nothing kills dreams faster than comfort and fear . Unknowingly self sabotaging your own growth. These lessons are so hard because by not honoring your alignment with your desires, you are going against your purpose. Every life form on our planet serves a purpose and we humans are no different. But our spiritual and physical embodiment makes us unique because we are aware of consciousness and the freedom of choice.

If you get in the habit of accepting employment solely based on a salary you are at risk of losing yourself. Whether that be physically, mentally, emotionally or financially. There is absolutely no one size fits in life button in life so there is no perfect formula on how to live. The best advice I have for you is to consistently, if not everyday, check in with yourself and always trust your intuition.

You are the most qualified person to navigate your life.

Stop searching for someone else to give you your roadmap!

Accept change as a necessary part of growth

Be honest with yourself when you outgrow spaces, people and things. Being able to pivot is a spiritual ability that is often overlooked and many times ignored as such, a gift. Those who are not attached to outcomes and are welcoming of the unknown are going to always be more prepared for life than a person who is complacent and unwilling to change.

What I hope you take away from this post is the validation that it is ok to prioritize yourself and your goals. While also reminding you that life was never meant to be so hard. When you are able to roll with the waves of life and think as the energy flows through and around you. By being in complete control of your choices and emotions you build a fortress for your life to be resilient in the face of challenges and restore universal balance by taking accountability. .

Building a career is “the” milestone of adulthood, and that is ok. Just don't get trapped in cycles of survival literally killing yourself slowly through every choice, sacrifice and the loss of time doing something, anything that does not bring you joy!

If nothing changes it will not auto-correct itself.
